Philosophy

A doctrine of liberty with accountable power.

US Populists means government and economic institutions answer to the people affected by their decisions. Political access cannot be bought, essential systems must work, peaceful personal choices deserve protection, and concentrated public and private power requires scrutiny.

Proposed institutional framework and research dossiers. Not an adopted platform, endorsement slate, or complete national numeric scorecard.

What we believe

We combine personal liberty, fiscal honesty, essential-service competence, and dispersed power into one governing philosophy. This is not a midpoint between parties. It is a coherent standard parties and candidates must meet—proposal by proposal.

US Populists evaluates policies and candidates through public-preference research, outcome evidence, rights, and transparent principles. Those three forms of reasoning stay visible and separate.

How populism works here

Populism without rights becomes majoritarian abuse. Rights without accountability become elite insulation. A favourable poll does not authorize unequal citizenship, collective punishment, censorship, or denial of due process.

Ideological honesty

We resolve tensions in the open. A dependable healthcare floor departs from strict voluntary-funding libertarianism—we choose coverage access with provider choice and budget controls, and we say so. Fiscal responsibility means sustainable commitments, not every tax cut by default. Peace policy means a presumption against discretionary war, not strategic blindness.

Standing rules

  • We do not grant or deduct points for party membership.
  • We distinguish promises from votes, implementation, and results.
  • We publish contradictory evidence and uncertainty.
  • We do not call one poll the will of the nation.
  • We do not treat member opinions as representative national research.
  • We do not score missing information as opposition.
  • We correct errors visibly, including errors that favor our preferred policy.
  • We protect equal rights even when those rights are unpopular.

The seven commitments

01

Equal Individual Rights

Protect speech, conscience, privacy, association, bodily autonomy, due process, and equal protection. Restrict liberty only when necessary to protect the equal rights of others.

Candidate test: Would the candidate preserve the right when exercised by an opponent?

02

Honest Public Finance

Finance public commitments honestly. Publish costs, offsets, uncertainty, transition liabilities, and debt effects before expanding obligations.

Candidate test: Is the proposal funded, and does its accounting include displaced private costs?

03

Reliable Essential Services

Where government has a justified role—healthcare floors, infrastructure, education basics—delivery must be measurable, reliable, accessible, and appealable.

Candidate test: Are benefits, eligibility, workforce capacity, appeals, and performance measurable?

04

Competitive Opportunity

Defend enterprise, worker mobility, and market entry while preventing fraud, exclusionary gatekeeping, and purchased political privilege.

Candidate test: Does the proposal remove privilege or merely transfer it to another institution?

05

Dispersed Power

Limit executive discretion, institutional capture, contractor monopolies, and private gatekeeping. Concentrated power requires stronger scrutiny, not deference.

Candidate test: Who can challenge a decision and obtain an independent remedy?

06

Peace and Lawful Security

Prefer diplomacy and volunteer defense. Require legislative accountability and a presumption against discretionary war.

Candidate test: Are objectives, authority, duration, costs, and civilian harms specified?

07

Democratic Accountability

Decisions, money, evidence, and conflicts must be visible. Elections and oversight must remain inspectable when any faction loses power.

Candidate test: Will rules apply consistently when the candidate’s party loses power?

Know who to vote for. Know why.

US Populists is the authority for liberty-forward, accountability-first politics—and the scorecard parties and candidates must clear.
